17ـ رسولُ اللهِِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): إنّ الكذبَ لا يَصلَحُ مِنهُ جِدٌّ ولا هَزلٌ، ولا أن يَعِدَ الرجُلُ ابنَهُ ثُمّ لا يُنجِزَ لَهُ، إنّ الصِّدقَ يَهدي إلَى البِرِّ، وإنَّ البِرَّ يَهدي إلَى الجَنَّةِ، وإنّ الكذبَ يَهدي إلَى الفُجورِ، وإنّ الفُجورَ يَهدي إلَى النّارِ. |
| 17– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘Lying is not right, whether it be serious or in jest, nor is it right for a man to make a promise to his child and not fulfil it. Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Heaven.’[Kanz al-`Ummal, no. 8217] |

18ـ رسولُ اللهِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): وَيلٌ للذي يُحَدِّثُ فَيكذِبُ ليُضحِكَ بهِ القَومَ! وَيلٌ لَهُ، وَيلٌ لَهُ! |
| 18– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘Woe unto he who speaks and lies in order to get people to laugh. Woe to him! Woe to him!’[Kanz al-`Ummal, no. 8215] |

19ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): لا يَجِدُ عَبدٌ طَعمَ الإيمانِ حتّى يَترُكَ الكذبَ هَزلَهُ وجِدَّهُ . |
| 19– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘A servant will not experience the taste of faith until he leaves lying, both seriously and in jest.’[Bihar al-Anwar, v. 72, p. 249, no. 14] |

20ـ الإمامُ زينُ العابدينَ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) ـ كانَ يقولُ لِوُلدِهِ ـ: اتَّقُوا الكَذِبَ الصَّغيرَ مِنهُ والكبيرَ، في كلِّ جِدٍّ وهَزلٍ، فإنّ الرجُلَ إذا كذبَ في الصَّغيرِ اجتَرَأَ علَى الكبيرِ. |
| 20– Imam Zayn al-`Aabidin (AS) would say to his children, ‘Be cautious of lies, both big and small, both seriously and in jest, for if a man tells a white lie, he will have the audacity to tell a big lie.’[Bihar al-Anwar, v. 72, p. 235, no. 2] |
