1ـ رسولُ اللهِِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): إنّي أمزَحُ ولا أقولُ إلّا حَقّاً. |
| 1– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘I joke but I do not speak other than the truth.’[Sharhe Nahj al-Balagha li Ibn Abi al-Hadid, v. 6, p. 330] |

2ـ رسولُ اللهِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): المؤمنُ دَعِبٌ لَعِبٌ، والمُنافقُ قَطِبٌ غَضِبٌ. |
| 2– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘A believer is fun and playful, and a hypocrite is grim and angry.’[Tuhaf al-`Uqoul, p. 49] |

3ـ أتَتِ امرأةٌ عَجوزٌ إلَى النّبيِّ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ) فقالَ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): لا تَدخُلُ الجَنّةَ عَجوزٌ ؛ فبَكتْ، فقالَ: إنّكِ لستِ يَومئذٍ بعَجوزٍ، قالَ اللّهُ تعالى: «إنّا أنْشَأناهُنَّ إنشاءً * فجَعَلْناهُنَّ أبْكاراً». |
| 3– It is narrated in Tanbih al-Khawatir: ‘An old woman came to the Prophet (SAWA) to whom he said, ‘Old people will not enter Heaven'. So she started to cry, and he then said, ‘At that time you will not be old, Allah Almighty has said, "We have created them with a special creation, and made them virgins."[Qur’an 56:35,36] [Tanbih al-Khawatir, v. 1, p. 112] |

4ـ الإمامُ الباقرُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): إنّ اللّهَ عَزَّوجلَّ يُحِبُّ المُداعِبَ في الجَماعةِ بلا رَفَثٍ . |
| 4– Imam al-Baqir (AS) said, ‘Indeed Allah loves those who are playful among people without obscenity.’[al-Kafi, v. 2, p. 663, no. 4] |

5ـ عن الفضلِ بنِ أبي قرَةَ عن الإمامِ الصّادقِ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): ما مِن مؤمنٍ إلّا وفيهِ دُعابَةٌ، قلتُ: وما الدُّعابَةُ؟ قالَ: المِزاحُ. |
| 5– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘Every single believer should have playfulness in him.’ [The narrator said] I asked, ‘What is playfulness?’ He replied, ‘Joking.’[al-Kafi, v. 2, p. 664, no. 2] |

6ـ عن يونسَ الشيبانيِّ: قال أبو عبد اللّه (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): كيفَ مُداعَبَةُ بَعضِكُم بَعضاً؟ قلتُ: قليلٌ، قالَ: فلا تَفعلوا، فإنّ المُداعَبةَ مِن حُسنِ الخُلقِ، وإنّكَ لَتُدخِلُ بها السُّرورَ على أخيكَ، ولقد كانَ رسولُ اللّهِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ) يُداعِبُ الرّجُلَ يُريدُ أن يَسُرَّهُ . |
| 6– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) asked Yunus al-Shaybani, ‘How much do you jest around with each other?’ I said, ‘Little.’ He said, ‘This is not how it should be, for playing is part of good character, and through that you bring happiness to your brother, and the Messenger of Allah (SAWA) would jest with people wanting to make them happy.’[al-Kafi, v. 2, p. 663, no. 3] |
