1ـ رسولُ اللهِِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): أمّا المُهلِكاتُ: فشُحٌّ مُطاعٌ، وهَوَىً مُتَّبَعٌ، وإعجابُ المَرءِ بنَفسِهِ. |
1– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘As for the destroyers, [they are]: greed obeyed, inclinations followed, and a man’s admiration of himself.’[al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib, v. 1, p. 86, no. 10] |
2ـ رسولُ اللهِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): إنّ الدِّينارَ والدِّرهَمَ أهلَكا مَن كانَ قَبلَكُم، وهُما مُهلِكاكُم. |
2– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘Verily the dinar and the dirham have destroyed those before you, and they will destroy you too.’[al-Kafi, v. 2, p. 316, no. 6] |
3ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): إنّما هَلَكَ مَن هَلَكَ مِمَّن كانَ قَبلَكُم بِرُكوبِهِمُ المَعاصي، ولَم يَنهَهُم الرَّبّانِيّونَ والأحبارُ.... |
3– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Verily those who perished before you did so because they embarked upon sins, and the priests and clergies did not prohibit them…’[Nahj al-Sa`ada, v. 1, p. 477] |
4ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): هَلَكَ مَن باعَ اليَقينَ بِالشَّكِّ، والحَقَّ بِالباطِلِ، والآجِلَ بِالعاجِلِ. |
4– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘He who sells certainty for doubt, and truth for falsehood, and the Hereafter for the present [life] will perish.’[Ghurar al-Hikam, no. 10030] |
5ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): هَلَكَ امرؤٌ لَم يَعرِفْ قَدرَهُ. |
5– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘He who does not know his own value will perish.’[Nahj al-Balagha, Saying 149] |
6ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): هَلَكَ فِيَّ رجُلانِ: مُحِبٌّ غالٍ، ومُبغِضٌ قالٍ. |
6– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Two kinds of people perish because of me: one who has extreme love [for me] and one who is a debased hater [of me].’[Nahj al-Balagha, Saying 117] |
7ـ الإمامُ الصّادقُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): خَصلَتَينِ مُهلِكَتَينِ: تُفتي النّاسَ برَأيِكَ، أو تَدينُ بِما لا تَعلَمُ. |
7– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘There are two destructive features: giving verdicts to people with your own opinion, and to yield to something that you do not know.’[Tuhaf al-`Uqoul, p. 369] |
8ـ الإمامُ الصّادقُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): يُهلِكُ اللّهُ سِتّا بِسِتٍّ: الاُمَراءَ بِالجَورِ، والعَربَ بِالعَصَبيَّةِ، والدَّهاقِينَ بِالكِبرِ، والتُّجّارَ بِالخِيانَةِ، وأهلَ الرُّستاقِ بِالجَهلِ، والفُقَهاءَ بِالحَسَدِ. |
8– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘Allah will destroy six things as a result of six other things: rulers for their oppression, Arabs for their partisanship, chiefs for their haughtiness, merchants for their treachery, villagers for their ignorance, and the jurists for their envy.’[Bihar al-Anwar, v. 78, p. 207, no. 67] |
