God-Fearing

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: It was reported from Saeed bin Hilal that he said to Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh): “I can barely meet in each couple of years, so advise me with a matter so that I follow it.” Imam Sadiq (Pbuh) said: “Be pious, honest, fearing Allah, and work hard. Know that hard work benefits nothing without fearing Allah.” [1]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Sadouq states in Thawab Al-A’mal Book: It was reported from Mahboub bin Hadeed Al-Madani from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said: “Protect and maintain your faith with fear of Allah.” [2]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: It was reported from Yazeed bin Khaleefa that he said: “Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) advised us and said: “You have to fear Allah because you earn nothing from Allah but by god-fearing.” [3]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: It was reported from Al-Fadeel bin Yasar from Imam Abou Jaa’far (Pbuh) that he said: “God-fearing is one of the utmost worships.” [4]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: It was reported from Abou Al-Sabah Al-Kanani that he said to Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh): “Do you what know people say about us because of you?” Imam Sadiq (Pbuh): “What do they say?” He: “After few words when talking one, he directly says: “A wicked follower of Jaa’far” Imam Sadiq (Pbuh): “People shame you because of me?” He said: “Yes.” The Imam (Pbuh): “Yet I see very few the ones who truly follow Jaa’far among you. My companions are the ones with great god-fearing who work for their lord seeking his reward. These are my true companions.” [5]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: It was reported from Abi Sarah Al-Ghazal from Imam Abou Jaa’far (Pbuh) that he said: “Allah said: “O son of Adam, avoid what I forbade you to do so that you be the most god-fearing among people.” [6]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: It was reported from Hafs bin Ghayath that he asked Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) about god-fearing people. The Imam (Pbuh) said: “They are who fear to do what Allah had forbidden.” [7]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: It was reported from Abi Oussama that heard Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) say: “You have to be pious, god-fearing, hardworking, honest, saving trusts, having good manners and good to your neighbors. Let other than your tongues describe yourselves. Be ornaments for us and don’t be a shame on us. You to prostrate long and bow long. For when one does that, Iblees cries behind him and says: “Wayl is to him, he obeyed and I disobeyed. He prostrated and I refused.”“ [8]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: It was reported from Ibn Ri’ab from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said: “We don’t regard a man as a believer unless he follows our orders with determination. Among following our orders with determination is god-fearing so ornament yourselves with it and Allah will be merciful to you. Defeat our enemies with it and Allah will bless you.” [9]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: It was reported from Obeidellah bin Ali from Imam Abou Al-Hassan The First (Pbuh) that he said: “plenty of times, I heard my father say: “He is not one of our true followers he whom veiled women don’t talk about his god-fearing from behind their veils. He is not one of our followers he who is in a village where ten thousand men are more god-fearing than him.” [10]

* Ibn Idrees Al-Holli states in Al-Sara’er Book: It was reported from Omar bin Hanthala from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said: “He is not one of our followers he who declares that by his tongue and yet he disobeys our orders and doesn’t do as we do. Our followers are the ones who follow us by their tongues and hearts and do as we do. Those are our followers.” [11]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Toussi states in Al-Amali Book: It was reported from Al-Mansouri from his uncle from Imam Ali Bin Mohammad (Pbuh) from his forefathers (Pbut) from Imam Sadiq (Pbuh) that he said: “You have to fear Allah. For it is the religion that we have, judge according to it, and ordered our followers to have it. Don’t weary us by intercession.” [12]
