* Al-Allama Al-Majlisi states in Al-Bihar Book: Ameer Elmo’mineen (Pbuh) said: “ O Allah for the product of envy for it started with the envier and killed him.” [1]
* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Jarah Al-Mada’ini from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said: “Envy eats faith as fire eats wood.” [2]
* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Dawood Al-Riqqi that he heard Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) say: “ fear Allah and don’t envy each other. When Issa bin Mariam was wandering in countries, once Qaseer who is a companion of Issa who was always with Issa went with him. When Issa reached the sea he said with certainty: “In the name of Allah” so he walked on water. When this man saw Issa walking on water he said with certainty: “In the name of Allah” so he also walked on water and followed Issa. This man felt vainglory and said: “Issa the soul of Allah is walking on water and I’m walking on water so how he is better than me?” he directly fell in the water. He started screaming for Issa for help. Then Issa came and brought him out of water and said to him: “O Qaseer what did you say?” he said: “I said: “ Issa the soul of Allah is walking on water and I’m walking on water so how he is better than me?”“ so I felt vainglory. Issa said to him: “you placed yourself in a level where Allah didn’t place you. So you enraged Allah because of what you said. Repent from what you said.” So the man repented and came back to his level that Allah placed him in. So fear Allah and don’t envy each other.” [3]
* Al-Sheikh Al-Sadouq states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Al-Sukuni from Imam Jaa’far Bin Mohammad (Pbuh) from his forefathers (Pbut) from the Messenger of Allah (Pbuhp) that he said: “Poverty can almost be infidelity and envy can almost change fate.” [4]
* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Moawia bin Wahab from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said: “The illness of religion is envy, vainglory and pride.” [5]
* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Dawood Al-Riqqi from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said that the Messenger of Allah (Pbuhp) said: “Allah said to Moussa bin Omran: “Don’t envy people for what I gave them of my virtue. Don’t stretch your sight towards that and don’t make your soul run after it. The envier is a rejecter of my bounties, not accepting the distribution that I made among my servants. I’m neither from him nor he is from me he who does that.” [6]
* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Al-Fadeel bin Ayyad from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said: “The believer covets and doesn’t envy whereas the hypocrite envies and doesn’t covet.” [7]
* Al-Sheikh Al-Sadouq states in Ma’ani Al-Akhbar Book: Reported from Abou Hamza Al-Thamaly from Imam Jaa’far Bin Mohammad Al-Sadiq (Pbuh) that he said that the Messenger of Allah (Pbuhp) said: “The least person who enjoys pleasures is the envier.” [8]
* Al-Sheikh Al-Sadouq states in Al-Khisal Book: Reported from Yehia bin Omran Al-Halabi that he heard Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) say: “The arrogant is never praised and the envier’s heart never rests.” [9]
* Al-Sheikh Al-Moufeed states in Al-Amali Book: Reported from Ali bin Jaa’far Bin Mohammad from his brother Moussa Bin Jaa’far (Pbut) from his forefathers (Pbut) from the Messenger of Allah (Pbuhp) that he once said to his companions: “The illness of the past nations had stroke you and it is envy. It doesn’t shave hair yet it shaves faith. One is saved from it if he holds back his hands and tongue and doesn’t wink in the back of his brother believer.” [10]
* Mohammad bin Masoud Al-Ayashi states in his Tafseer Book: Reported from Abdel-Rahman bin Abi Najran that he asked Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) about this saying of Allah { And in no wise covet those things in which Allah Had bestowed His gifts More freely on some of you than on others}. Imam (Pbuh) said: “Man must not wish to have wife of a man or his daughter, yet he must wish for a woman like them.” [11]
* Mohammad bin Masoud Al-Ayashi states in his Tafseer Book: Reported from Yunus bin Thabian from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said: “ While Moussa was invoking his Lord and talking to him, he saw a man in the shadow of the throne. So he said: “O Lord, who is that man that is in the shadow of your throne?” Allah said: “This is a man that didn’t envy any person for what Allah had gave him of his virtues.”“ [12]
* Al-Allama Al-Majlisi states in Al-Bihar Book: The Messenger of Allah (Pbuhp) said: “ The bounties of Allah have enemies.” One asked: “Who are the enemies of the bounties of Allah?” He (Pbuhp) said: “{those who envy people for what Allah had granted them of his virtue}”[13]
* Al-Mirza Al-Nouri states in Moustadrak Al-Wasa’el Book: Reported from Anas bin Malik from the Messenger of Allah (Pbuhp) that he said: “Don’t hate each other, don’t envy each other, don’t turn your back at each other and be servants of Allah and brothers. A Muslim is not allowed not to contact his brother for more than three days.” [14]
* Al-Allama Al-Majlisi states in Bihar Al-Anwar Book: Reported from the Messenger of Allah (Pbuhp) that he said: “To have success in a matter that you are seeking you have to keep it a secret.” [15]
* Nahej Al-Balagha Book: Imam Ali (Pbuh) said: “Less envy leads to a healthy body.”[16]
* Abou Fateh Al-Karajiki states in Kanz Al-Fawa’ed Book: Ameer Elmo’mineen (Pbuh) said: “A liar never has magnanimity and an envier never has rest. It is enough that the envier is saddened when others are gladdened.” [17]
* Al-Mirza Al-Nouri states in Moustadrak Al-Wasa’el Book: Abou Fateh Al-Karajiki states in Kanz Al-Fawa’ed Book: Ameer Elmo’mineen (Pbuh) said: “Envy brings nothing but harm, anger that weakens hearts, and illness to bodies. Envy is the evilest feeling that a heart can feel.” [18]
* Abou Fateh Al-Karajiki states in Kanz Al-Fawa’ed Book: Luqman said to his sons: “Never envy because it affects you and doesn’t affect whom you are envying.” [19]
* Al-Mirza Al-Nouri states Moustadrak Al-Wasa’el Book: Reported from Ali Bin Al-Hussein (Pbuh) that he said: “Envy weakens the body and generosity frees you from envy.” [20]
