Al-Mahasen- Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Khaled Al-Barqi vol.2 p.398:

Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) said that the Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) said: "Food is complete if it has these four qualities: If it is Halal. If many are eating it. If Allah's Name is said over it and if Allah is thanked when finishing it."

Bihar Al-Anwar- Al-Alama Al-Majlesi vol.36 p.329:

The Prophet (pbuhp) said: "Enough it is for the son of Adam to consume a few bites and if there is a need, let there be a third for food, a third for drinks and another third for air."

 

Al-Kafi- Sheikh Al-Koleini vol.6 p.269:

Abou Baseer reported that Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) said: "O Abou Mohammad, the stomach indeed dominates who feeds it. The closest a servant can be to Allah Almighty is when his stomach is light and the most detestable a servant can be to Allah Almighty is when his stomach is satiated."

 

Bihar Al-Anwar- Al-Majlesi vol.36 p.331:

The Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) said: "The light of wisdom is hunger. Farness from Allah is fullness and closeness to Allah isoffering love to the needy and being close to them," and he (pbuhp) said as well: "Do not kill your hearts by excessive consumption of food and drink, for hearts die like crops when excessively watered." He (pbuhp) also said: "Do not fully satisfy your appetite, for it puts out the light of knowledge in your hearts. He who prays after eating lightly shall have heavenly maidens (Al-Hour) surrounding him."

 

Wasa'el Al-Shia- Al-Hur Al-Ameli vol.3 p.381:

The Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) said: "He who wants to stay- and none shall stay forever- should consume lunch early,wear good shoes, lighten his garments and lessen copulation with women." He (pbuhp) was asked: "What is a light garment?" He (pbuhp) replied: "It is a light debt."

Al-Mahasen- Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Khaled Al-Barqi vol.2 p.420:

Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) said: "The prophets' supper was after dark. Thus do not miss supper, for missing supper leads to the destruction of the body."

 

Al-Mahasen- Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Khaled Al-Barqi vol.2 p.421:

Jaber Bin Abdellah reported that the Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) said: "Do not miss supper, even if just a bite of dry food, for I indeed worry that my nation would be afflicted by senility. Supper is indeed the strength of old and young men."

 

Mostadrak Al-Wasa'el- Al-Mirza Al-Nouri vol.61 p.231:

Al-Hassan Bin Fadl Al-Tabarsi states in Makarem Al-Akhlaq: A man asked the Messenger of Allah (pbuhp): "O Messenger of Allah, we eat but never is our appetite quenched." He (pbuhp) said: "You must be separating when eating your food, so gather when eating, say Allah's Name over the food and thus He shall bless it for you."

 

Wasa'el Al-Shia- Al-Hur Al-Ameli vol.61 p.422:

Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) reported that the Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) said: "Verily, when a man gathers his family at his table, where they utter Allah's Name prior to eating and thank Allah when finishing, they shall be forgiven immediately when clearing the table."

 

Bihar Al-Anwar- Al-Alama Al-Majlesi vol.36 p.352:

Abou Awf Al-Ejli said: "I heard AboU Abdellah (pbuh) say: "Exercising ablution (Wodou') before eating a meal and afterwards as well increases sustenance.""

 

Al-Kafi- Sheikh Al-Koleini vol.6 p.290:

Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) said: "He who would be glad to have more blessings in his home must exercise ablution when he wants to eat."

 

Mostadrak Al-Wasa'el- Al-Mirza Al-Nouri vol.1 p.466:

Ameer El-Mo'meneen (pbuh) said: "Eating when being in the state of impurity (due to ejaculation) (Janaba) leads to poverty."

 

Al-Kafi- Sheikh Al-Koleini vol.6 p.272:

Souma'a said that he asked Abou Abdellah (pbuh) if a man may eat or drink with his left hand, so he (pbuh) said: "Neither should he eat, drink nor grab anything with his left hand."

 

Al-Mahasen- Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Khaled Al-Barqi vol.2 p.459:

Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) said: "Eat not while walking, only if you were compelled to."

 

Mostadrak Al-Wasa'el- Al-Mirza Al-Nouri vol. 71 p.24:

The Prophet (pbuhp) said: "If any of you wants to eat, he should eat with his right hand and if he wants to drink, he should drink with his right hand, for the Devil eats and drinks with his left hand."

 

Man La Yahdoraho Al-Fakih- Sheikh Al-Sadouq vol.3 p.357:

Ameer El-Mo'meneen (pbuh) says: "Begin your meal with salt, for if people knew what is in salt, they would have preferred it over verified antidotes."

 

Wasa'el Al-Shia- Al-Hur Al-Ameli vol.61 p.520:

Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) reported that the Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) said to Ameer El-Mo'meneen (pbuh): "O Ali, start your meal with salt and finish it with salt, for he who starts his meal with salt and finishes it with salt shall be saved from seventy kinds of afflictions, the least of which is leprosy."

 

Al-Kafi- Sheikh Al-Koleini vol.6 p.329:

Mohammad Bin Ali Al-Hamadani reported that once there was a man at Imam Al-Rida's house in Khorasan. A feast was offered to him, comprising of both salt and vinegar, so he (pbuh) began with the vinegar. Thus the man said: "May I be sacrificed for you! Haven't you ordered us to begin with salt?" He (pbuh) said: "This is like that, meaning vinegar. Vinegar indeed strengthens the brain and increases intelligence."

 

Al-Mahasen- Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Khaled Al-Barqi vol.2 p.406:

Abou Abdellah (pbuh) reported that Ameer El-Mo'meneen (pbuh) said: "What for hot food to cool down, for the Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) once was offered hot food, so he said: "Wait until it cools, for Allah shall never feed us fire. Blessings are in indeed in the cold."

 

Al-Mahasen- Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Khaled Al-Barqi vol.2 p.443:

Abou Basir reported from Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) that he said: "The Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) said: 'If any of you eats and then sucks the finger by which he ate, Allah Almighty shall say: 'May Allah bless you!''"

 

Al-Kafi- Sheikh Al-Koleini vol.6 p.377:

Ishaq Bin Jarir said: "I asked Abou Abdellah (pbuh) about meat that sticks between teeth and thus he said: 'As for what is in the anterior of your mouth, eat it and what is in your molars, throw it away.'"

 

 Wasa'el Al-Shia- Al-Hor Al-Ameli vol.61 p.409:

Al-Asbagh Bin Nabata reported that Ameer Al-Mo'meneen (pbuh) said to Al-Hassan (pbuh): "Shall I teach you four qualities due to which you will no longer be in need of medicine?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Do not eat unless you are hungry. Do not leave the table but craving for more. Chew well and when you want to sleep, use the bathroom. If you do these, then you will no longer need medicine."

 

Al-Kafi- Sheikh Al-Koleini vol.6 p.304:

Abou Abdellah (pbuh) said that the Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) said: "Do not slice food with a knife, but break it with your hands and let it be broken for you. Oppose the foreigners."

 

Al-Kafi- Sheikh Al-Koleini vol.6 p.298:

Soma'a Bin Mahran said: "I asked Abou Abdellah (pbuh) about when the time of prayer comes as food is being served. He said: "If it was the beginning of the time, start by eating and if some time has passed and you worried about missing prayer, thus redoing it, then begin with the prayer.""

 

Wasa'el Al-Shia- Al-Hor Al-Ameli vol.61 p.503:

The Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) said: "He who traces what falls from his table and eats it shall be relieved from poverty and so shall his children and his grandchildren until the seventh one."

 

Al-Mahasen- Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Khaled Al-Barqi vol.2 p.445:

Mo'amar Bin Khalad said: "I heard Abou Al-Hassan Al-Rida (pbuh) say: "He who ate in his home and some of the food fell should eat it and he who ate in the desert or in the outdoors should leave what fell for the birds and beasts.""

 

Al-Khisal- Sheikh Al-Sadouq p.610:

Abou Basir reported from Mohammad Bin Muslim from Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) that he said: "My father reported to me from his grandfather from his forefathers (pbut) that the Prince of Believers (pbuh) taught his companions in a single gathering four hundred chapters of knowledge, concerning what is better for the Muslim for both his religion and living. He (pbuh) said: "[…] Chewing frankincensegum tightens the molars, eliminates mucus and drives away bad breath […]."

 

Al-Mahasen- Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Khaled Al-Barqi vol.2 p.410:

Hisham Bin Salem reported from Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) that he said: "If your brethren visits you, serve him what you have and if you have invited him, then make an effort and spend money on this invitation."

 

Al-Kafi- Sheikh Al-Koleini vol.6 p.285:

Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) said: "The Messenger of Allah, when eating with a gathering, used to be the first to begin and the last to withdraw his hand until all of them have ate."

 

Wasa'el Al-Shia- Al-Hor Al-Ameli vol.61 p.455:

The Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) said: "Whoever serves food as an act of pretension and dissimulation to gain good reputationshall be fed by Allah the same from the Sadid of Hell (Pus-like water) and Allah shall make that food as fire in his stomach until it leaves the people's bodies."

 

Mostadrak Al-Wasa'el- Al-Mirza Al-Nouri vol.61 p.355:

The Messenger of Allah (pbuhp) said: "Allah shall drive away the bitterness of death from who feeds his brethren a sweet."

 

Al-Da'awat- Qotb Al-Deen Al-Rawandi p.142:

The Prince of Believers (pbuh) said: "The nurture of the body is food and the nurture of the soul is feeding."

 

Al-Mahasen- Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Khaled Al-Barqi vol.2 p.390:

Al-Hussein Bin Naim said: "Abou Abdellah (pbuh) said to me: "Do you love your brethren, O Hussein?" I said: "Yes, I do." He said: "Do you benefit their poor?" I said: "Yes, I do." He said: "Indeed, you must love who loves Allah. By Allah, do not benefit anyone of them until you love him. Do you invite them to your home?" I said: "I do not eat unless two or three of them are with me and less or more." Thus Abou Abdellah (pbuh) said: "The virtue they give you is greater than the virtue you give them." I said: "I invite them to my home, feed them my food and offer them my drink, let them sit on my furniture, yet their virtue is greater!" He said: "Yes. When they enter your house, they enter with forgiveness for you and your family and when they leave, they leave with your sins and the sins of your family.""

 

Al-Kafi- Sheikh Al-Koleini vol.2 p.201:

Abou Abdellah Al-Sadiq (pbuh) said: "Indeed any man whose home enters believers, thus he feeds them until they are satiated has done what is better than freeing a slave."

The Prophet (pbuh) said: "Sustenance reaches those who feed others faster than a knife reaching humped cattle."

 

Oyoun Akhbar Al-Rida (pbuh)- Sheikh Al-Sadouq vol.2 p.276:

Imam Al-Rida (pbuh) said: "A diet is not forbidding yourself from something; it is consuming it less."
